This scanner worked great for about 22 months before developing a consistent pattern of jamming. Rollers were cleaned but the issue was traced to the thin white plastic part on the inside of the door just below the feed rollers. The adhesive on this piece has failed causing it to catch the inserted paper. It's easily accessible but of course Visioneer does not make this part available for replacement. Now they're asking for $300 for an out of warranty replacement charge on a scanner currently available for $400. (Original purchase price in excess of $600) I'm actually glad this happened now as our company was considering this scanner for a companywide installation and now you can be sure that any Xerox (made by Visioneer) products will not be on our considered list due this unacceptable customer service policy for a product less than 2 years old.

Speedy and easy to use

The Documate 162 was very easy to set up, install, and use. Duplex scanning is terrific. My sole beef is with a tendency of the scanner glass/window to get dirty after 50 or so pages of books are scanned, which means a short break to pop the scanner open and clean the glass. Otherwise, works very well, integrates well with Windows 7, and the software is very well designed.
