I thought I should submit a review - from a non-IT, administrative-type user. We were required to get a digital scanner for our office and our company standard unit costs around $8,000. The person who handled the selection for us happened to know someone who purchased an HP Digital Sender and raved about it. We purchased ours for just over $3,000 saving our company $5,000! I have to add that that $8,000 unit I mentioned only scanned in B&W and the HP Digital Sender scans in both B&W and color! Other than having the machine installed by one of our IT people who wasn't familiar with the machine's operation and gave us no manual AND occasional email problems that are likely internal and not the fault of the Sender, we're THRILLED with this machine. Just this morning - I logged in, selected my scan settings, and scanned four pages in less than 30 seconds. By the time I put the dust cover back on the machine and returned to my office (10' away), my scan was in my email Inbox. This unit allows various image/quality/output settings AND has a pull-out keyboard (we found it almost by accident) so that you can type in your login info instead of tapping letters on the screen! I can't say enough, it is the best office equipment purchase made in our office since our IBM Correcting Selectric Typewriter! REALLY!

Of all the office equipment I've used, this is by far my favorite. You can scan big documents, individual sheets, odd-shaped pieces, email them to yourself as a picture or as a pdf, easily change the settings/quality, and it works VERY FAST.
Even on a high quality scan setting, it scans very fast! Even on LOW quality, it still scans documents in GREAT quality in PDF form! I'm amazed by this machine. And it's taken a beating working for us for years now. I LOVE the pull-out keyboard on the bottom. I love that it's "hidden" and doesn't increase the footprint (unless you want it to). I love the simple interface - with no training I was able to figure out how to use it and change settings, etc. It's just a well-designed machine. If you're looking for a solid high-speed scanner to use in your office, this thing is a dream!

We just got about 5 of these on base. The job I have is pretty much troubleshooting and fixing hardware/software issues with computers and select peripherals (including digital senders). After setting up 3 of these two of them started having the same problem with emailing color documents. Every page after the second shows up in blue (i assume them to be negatives of the actual images). I checked online and this seems to be one of the largest problems plaguing this otherwise really decent digital sender. The fix is to re-calibrate it but it seems to only work half the time. Im still currently troubleshooting because recalibrating it didn't work for me but it seem to had work for most people.
Other than this the digital sender is pretty reliable and simple to use. If you don't want to send in color then just set it to black/white and it should send fine.

I absolutely love this product. Set up was a breeze and it scans everything quickly and comes with a handy organization program. Would definitely recommend.
Only negative - I have an old computer that did not have a dvd drive. The set-up was from a dvd, but you can always download the software from the internet.

This scanner is simply the best I have ever seen. The flat bed scanners and the all-in-ones I have used with my Intel iMac G5 all suffered from various problems that made scanning a maddening experience that I couldn't fit into the work flow of any project regardless of how simple it might have seemed. Most scanners are geared for the PC world and Mac software is mediocre at best and usually flat out useless. This scanner and its software are aimed at the Mac market and they have done it the right way.
Following the quick start instructions to the letter, and I suggest you read them all the way through before starting, I had the unit up and running in a few minutes.
It doesn't take long to see the beauty of opening the unit and putting something in to be scanned, pressing the "scan" button and seeing the resulting PDF on your screen within seconds! There are many output and storage options as well, to fit just about any workflow application.
This scanner has become a key part of my day to day work, and I can't imagine trying to do without it.
The unit has a small footprint and for power has a power cord or it can be powered by the appropriate type of USB port making it portable as well. This small size makes the unit mobile, but the tradeoff is that you can't scan bound volumes.
Any group of pages I have loaded in the document feeder (and I have loaded as many as 11) have been scanned flawlessly in seconds.

Tiny. Fast. Push one button. (Although there's also a very nifty Quick Menu that let's you rename, file in a specific location, send to iPhoto, print, email, etc.)
It's unbelievably small and light and unbelievably fast.
I'm an artist/designer/educator and I'm always clipping images and arcane bits of text. I sent odd size pieces of flimsy paper from the New York Times magazine without a hitch.
I love this product. It's one of the best purchases I ever made.

I've used a number of Business card scanners through the years. I've used the Scanshell for a few years now and the software is hands down the best available. Integrates perfectly with Outlook. I havent figured out how to efficiently scan double sided cards to be saved on one contact but I have a work around. All in all I think this is the best product around, when this blows up I will buy the updated version from the same manufacturer.

We have five of these scanners at the front desk of our busy medical practice. They work great for scanning in drivers licenses and insurance cards. No trouble with them at all.

I really enjoy using the IRIS Notes for my smartphone. It also works on my computer and as a pen mouse for the computer. It is very good at translating my notes to text, but most of the time, I draw pictures with my notes and want to keep them in their original form. It works great with Microsoft One Note.
My only gripe is that the clip doesn't expand to hold more than a few sheets of paper, so I can't attach it to a legal pad, I have to rig something up to hold it.
