If you gotta scan a few suitcases full of misc pictures. This is your scanner!

First off this scanner does not make the best scan quality of the flatbed scanners I have and do currently use. However I cannot jam an inch thick pile of different sized photos into any other document feeder hand have the scanner (nearly without fail) feed and scan every picture perfectly.
It automatically corrects for skew, so I rarely bother with making sure the guides are at the right width anymore.
The base software does exactly what it needs to do. Makes incremental filenames out of each pic scanned as it goes through. Currently the scanner takes less than a half a second a pic so it's pretty quick...
My only peeves...
No mac drivers! I had to start up an old Windows box just to run the scanner.
Have plenty of alcohol pads and roller cleaner pads ready (I paid for the suggested Kodak brand and they work). Your old pics will drop goop all over the scanner glass. It will need to be cleaned every few hundred pics.
I bought mine used and the underside of the scanning glass was hazy and filthy. I had to disassemble the entire scanner just to get to the glass to clean it. Not very easy...
Will not feed Polaroids or the old cardboard thickness prints (I cannot really blame it, but it won't do it)...
Other than that this is a very solid product with an excellent document feeder that will handle photos with no problem.

Love this scanner!

I have owned this scanner for several years. I have scanned literally thousands of pictures and clippings for clients. Using this scanner makes my work so much faster and easier that it isnt funny! Simply feed up to 15 pics at a time in its hopper and let it go. Many customizable features allow you to set time outs for empty picture hopper, etc. One amazing feature is that it will auto straighten your pics even if they go in crooked. Post picture correction (rotation and deletion)after scanning is easy with their software. All in all, this scanner is worth every penny I paid for it and has paid for itself in fast picture scanning and turnaround. The only thing that I will caution you about is that the rollers will get dirty from the paper dust and dust on the pictures, so every so often you need to tear it down (very easy to pull out the parts) and clean them with a damp cloth. The plastic rollers will also get a build up on them and will need to be cleaned off for proper non jamming operation. You wont go wrong with this scanner!

BUYER BEWARE!!

We are a very small business and $700 for a scanner is a hefty chunk of change. The Kodak i1210 has a great page per minute ratio, and seemed like a wise investment for the large scanning project we had coming up. We thought, with a strong brand name and a A-Z Amazon guarantee, buying online instead of from a place like Best Buy seemed like a safe buy.
Well, sometimes the Fates are cruel. We received the i1210 and weren't ready to start our scanning job for a month and a half, but then, we began running tests to check software compatibility. I ran about 70 pages through, TOTAL over the course of 2 weeks before the machine flashed us an E7 error message, which the manual indicates is: total scanner failure.
I attempted to exchange it with the vendor, ANTOnline. When we didn't get feedback fast enough, we had to purchase another scanner to begin the scan job. Amazon A-Z rejected our appeal for a return because with ANTOnline's policy, you have 30 days from the date of order placement (REGARDLESS of when you take delivery of the product). Even had I used it the minute I got it, there would have been no way for me to know it would stop working before the 30 day window was closed. So, in a nutshell, we basically bought a $700 Kodak paperweight from ANTOnline. ANTOnline will neither offer us a refund nor did they offer to exchange the product. And regardless, we needed the job done, so we had to buy another machine right away.
I guess Amazon will not do anything to back up buyer confidence in their services. This is a clear case of a defective machine. Go to Best Buy or Office Depot, they will follow through when you buy a crappy product. ANTOnline, we will not purchase from you again. This scanner is garbage and Kodak has discontinued it and replaced it with another model.
