5Does exactly what it claims.
By Adam
I purchased this for scanning black and white documents at a location where setting up my laptop and page scanner was too cumbersome. This does exactly what I need. The paper feeds almost perfect every time. Image quality is very good (300dpi). A full page scans in around 10 seconds. There are only 2 problems I have with this unit. First, the scanner timestamp seems to reset itself so the dates are no where near when I scanned the item and there doesn't seem to be any way of setting the date in any software or the unit itself. Second, when you clear the memory card or USB the filenames revert back to 1 (IMG_0001) This is a pain for me because I scan documents daily and when sorting the files into their various folders, I tend to end up with a lot of duplicate file names. All in all if you need an extremely portable unit to scan in a few single sheets of paper this is for you. If you are looking to scan large quantities of pages then I would suggest getting something with an auto-feed.

5Indispensable for scanning 1000's of old photos
By ViperGeek
I have to start this review by stating, my wife would give this SIX stars of Amazon supported such a rating. She absolutely loves this little, fast, portable scanner.

One of the tasks she's saddled herself with -- and the reason I bought her this portable scanner -- is the quest to archive her entire family's existence. To that end, she has our home office filled with large boxes of old, old photo albums. Additionally, she will be going "on site" to one of her great aunt's houses to scan photos that are (for some reason) not allowed to leave the premises. We thought about bringing a full-size flatbed scanner, but that seemed impractical. Plus, at about 30 seconds per photo, it would take her many, many hours.

On a whim, I picked up the Visioneer Mobility cordless scanner. This thing is absolutely amazing and ultra-convenient. In just a few evenings, in front of the TV watching "The Big Bang Theory" reruns (recall that this is a cordless, COMPUTER-less scanner), she managed to archive over 2,500 photos from my side of the family. Sitting tethered to a computer desk with a flatbed scanner, this accomplishment would have easily taken her ten times as long. The photos are all scanned at 300 DPI, and unprocessed, meet or exceed the quality of my $400 Epson flatbed scanner. With the supplied 2GB SD card, we calculated that you could fit ~12,000 4x6 scanned prints before needing to offload them to a PC or file server.

My wife has thanked me at least a dozen times for this handy, dandy little scanner (our agreed-upon limit is three "thanks" per gift), so in retrospect, the Visioneer Mobility mobile cordless scanner has been better received than any previous gift I've given, exceeding the appreciation of diamond earrings and expensive French perfume. If only I knew the secret to a woman's heart earlier ...

If you have mass quantities of photos or documents to scan, pick up this scanner right now. Even if you already have a high quality flatbed scanner, you'll find that this quick, handy, portable scanner will soon become the primary/exclusive method of importing photos and documents.

5LOVE LOVE LOVE!
By CorgiGirl
I have an all-in-one flatbed scanner, printer, copier deal that I just hate to use. It's big, bulky, and just too much work to drag out for a quick scan. I originally purchased this Visioneer scanner so my husband would have a scanner on the road, as he travels a lot for work. But I've found myself using it more than he does! It's so convenient and easy. Just pop in a thumb drive or the card it comes with, and you can scan without being connected to a computer. Getting files over to your computer is easy, too. (Simply transfer via thumb drive or connect via USB.) And, best of all, the quality and scanning options are great. I couldn't be happier with this little scanning powerhouse. It does everything that is promised on the website. Being able to scan, without being connected to a computer, is such a great feature. (It makes me wonder why all scanners aren't set up this way, actually.) Highly recommended.
