I have seen good and bad reviews for this scanner. I took a chance and bought one. It wasn't exactly plug-and-play out-of-the-box but with a little reading in the troubleshooting section, got everything straightened out and works great! I think the people that gave it bad reviews didn't try to work out problems. The two problems I had were only software settings. The document feeder scans fast! Seems twice as fast as my HP ScanJet 8250. Everything feels tighter together and more heavy duty. From lifting up access hatches and document feeder tray to lifting up cover for the flatbed. The software for seems all right And wish it had some of the automatic features for picking up flatbed items and that's why I didn't give it a perfect five. I don't think you could go wrong with picking this one up.
