Solved my receipt problem

This thing is awesome. I could never stay on top of my pile of receipts. Since this scanner runs on batteries, I just keep it on my kitchen counter. Super easy to pull a receipt out of my pocket or from my inbound mail stack, press the power button on the scanner and drag it over the receipt. The preview window is tiny but good enough to do a quick qa check on my scan quality... Then throw the receipt in my shredder. I installed a larger capacity micro sd card but when it is full, you just attach a usb cable from scanner to your pc, and transfer to your hard drive. I'm finally going paperless. It comes with a soft storage bag to keep the dust away from it until you need it. Throw it in your bag when traveling to scan books, magazines or whatever. You can even snap this into another accessory called a vuepoint "magic wand tabletop scanning stand" that turns it into a flatbed scanner when needed. Brilliant!

Magic Wand Indeed!

Good for occasional scanning.

I bought this to use in addition to my sheet-fed and flatbed scanners. I thought it would be a quicker way to get through all the receipts that pile up and to keep in my purse for on-the-go scanning.
I found it didn't make them flat enough to get a straight scan, so I had to do it several times to get it right. Not to mention, the small screen is impossible to actually see what you've scanned so realistically you have to wait until you import all the PDFs to your computer to see if you need to redo the scan. Meaning you have to save everything you scan just in case, which defeats my "scan it and trash it" method.
Basically, I didn't see any benefit to this scanner over just taking a photo with my high quality camera. Maybe the only thing is that it can scan very long lengthwise, but other than that I just don't see the point. I ended up returning it.
It does have very high resolution settings, which is one thing that made me purchase in the first place.
This is a good scanner for someone who isn't extremely serious about scanning and isn't OCD about the outcome - or doesn't mind redoing it a few times to get it perfect. Maybe for not as high volume scanning as I was trying to do.
